Bal Mine Project

Beautiful setting where the DTRG are surveying, above the confluence of Burrator Reservoir and the Newleycombe Lake.

This mine site is featured in SWLT’s walks leaflets Tinners Trail 1 & Tinners Trail 2. These are available from SWLT at Burrator Discovery Centre for 50p each. If anyone would like a copy of DTRG’s plan of Bal Mine, please see SHOP.

The Dartmoor Tinworking Research Group (DTRG) were asked to survey an area south-east of Norsworthy Bridge at the eastern end of Burrator Reservoir by Southwest Lakes Trust (SWLT).  The area in question is close to the car-park and includes a wheelpit, launder embankment, leat and many other features.
